To meet growing demand, SCOUT studied renovating and expanding New Mexico Orthopaedic’s Rio Rancho Clinic. To double the number of exam rooms, the clinic area was expanded into the existing Physical Therapy wing, also allowing for a second x-ray suite. The previous break and conference rooms were converted into a new cast room, doubling the number of cast bays and increasing storage. A new wing would be added to house a larger, state-of-the-art Physical and Occupational Therapy suite and upgraded staff support spaces. Strategically placed storefront throughout the addition creates a strong interior/exterior connection, allowing patients to see the healing process in action, similar to NMO’s main location. To create additional cohesion between the two facilities, SCOUT implemented colored wayfinding and redesigned the check-in and waiting areas to better support their efficient patient flow.

The expanded waiting area will also include NMO’s “Motion Shop.” The revamped entry and extension of bold color to the exterior give NMO’s building a fresh, energetic look and create a visual connection to the Winrock Location.
